The biggest retail event of the year is here! With Black Friday and Cyber Monday Weekend here, it’s the perfect time to earn a lot more bonus frequent flyer points on each purchase.
One way to earn loads of lovely extra points is through overlapping multiple offers, such as shopping through a shopping mall mall, paying with a points earning credit card, or using a Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) solution to pay for your purchases which also gives you frequent flyer points (more about that later!).

What is Black Friday?
Black Friday (and the associated Cyber Monday) is traditionally a United States tradition, marking the day after Thanksgiving that big sales begin. Today, many countries participate in the retail madness that is also known as Cyber Weekend, with many Australian stores taking part.
You’ll most often get the best deals on tech and home items during Black Friday, but discounts can be found across the board including with travel, accommodation, actvities, and more.

How do I earn the most points from Black Friday sales?
Even when you’re shopping for a great deal, it’s still worth considering ways for you to maximise your frequent flyer points earn.
1. Use a rewards-earning credit card
This is my top tip for maximising how many frequent flyer points you can earn on Black Friday! With a points earning credit card, you’ll earn something for each of your eligible purchases. When used correctly, points earning credit cards will help you maximise the opportunities to earn reward points, but you should always pay the balance off in full every month to avoid fees.
You can also earn Qantas points when using select debit cards, such as the Bankwest Qantas Transaction card.
2. Check out with an online mall
Where possible, be sure to visit an online mall first. This includes Qantas Shopping, the Velocity e-Store, KrisFlyer Spree, Asia Miles iShop just to name a few.
Depending on the store, these online malls will award you with bonus points on eligible purchases. But choose carefully, as you can only take advantage of one online mall per transaction.
Not happy with the bonus points these malls are offering? Consider joining a cashback program! The two biggest Cashback sites in Australia are Cashrewards and Shopback, though depending where you work you may have access to sites like Reward Gateway or if you are into micro-investing, Raiz Invest may be the app for you.
3. Linked Qantas to AfterPay? Use it
If you linked your Qantas Frequent Flyer account to AfterPay to earn bonus points, then be sure to make the most of this limited-time partnership! More and more retailers are using AfterPay now, and best of all, you can now use your points earning credit cards for the fee-free repayments; even Amex is accepted!
